High Speed/ High Power Density Electric Power Generation and Motor Drive

This presentation mainly covers the electric power generation using high speed generators driven directly by high speed turbines. The result is 100 kW to 5 MW electric power generation with 10 percent to 15 percent of the currently available power systems. Applications are in aerospace as well as commercial applications needing compact power systems. The same technology is also available for high speed motor drives. Discussion will includes many mechanical and electrical innovations that allow and enhance the operation at high speed.
Jay Vaidya is the founding president of Electrodynamics Associates, Inc. (EAI) and has devoted many years to the development of high speed power generators. EAI has done the design and analytical work and followed it with fabrication of the hardware that was tested to requirements derived from customer specifications. Jay has been responsible for successfully developing many products, with programs funded by DoD.
