The robotics industry is growing significantly and rapidly.  The biggest drivers to be part of it are component size, system cost and allowance for large tolerances.  Encoders are a significant part of robotics’ systems.  We will present an integrated encoder which has key benefits in size, cost and allows large tolerances.  The precision high resolution encoder has excellent repeatability and is designed for the harsh environments required in factories.  An example application is shown of the encoder designed into a robot.  The benefits of integration are similar for most types of robots and drones.  The integrated design using the custom encoder is a logical choice and  has significant advantages for higher volume applications.
